UK retailers hungry to learn at Insite event
Well, we’ve just about (but not quite!) recovered from the first ChannelAdvisor Insite event of 2007 which took place yesterday in central London.
Over 30 UK online retailers joined ChannelAdvisor and Google (who were Platinum Sponsors) for an information-packed day of presentations, discussions and workshops about the current opportunities for online retailers in the UK.
The day started with a look at recent UK eCommerce Trends followed by an introduction to the fundamentals drivers of success on marketplaces (such as eBay and Amazon Merchants@), shopping comparison websites and paid search campaigns.
After lunch the group then split into two ’streams’ to dive into some more advanced strategies for optimising each of these channels in preparation for the rapidly-approaching Q4 busy season. Attendees also got the opportunity to hear first-hand from Aidan O’Curry and Richard Keelty from Google Europe about how Google Checkout and Google Product Search can drive more sales and reduce costs for online retailers.
A big thanks to our sponsors: Google (Platinum), PayPal (Gold), Cybersource (Gold) and FOEB (Silver) without whom the Insite series of events wouldn’t be able to happen. We look forward to the next events up in Manchester on the 5th September, and then on to Glasgow, Birmingham and finally Dublin.
If you were at the event yesterday - thanks for coming - we’d love to hear your comments!

Hi James and many thanks to your and your team for an great day. It’s always good to take time out to catch up on the latest industry trends and Insite is second to none on achieving this. Not only are ChannelAdvisor themselves growing with new employees who come with indepth experience of Amazon and eBay, but the guest speakers have some of the best knowledge in the industry.
I attended Insite 2006 as well as this year, and I’ll definately be booking my place for Insite 2008!

INSITE offers an excellent opportunity to anyone with an interest in e-commerce. My agenda was quite unique as compared to rest of the attendees as I am a research student, however I found every bit of information useful. I was planning to attend the first half of the presentation but I was one of the last to leave.
The presentations offered valuable data regarding emerging e-commerce trends which was theoretically justified. The networking drinks session was the best bit as it offered opportunity to interact with industry related professionals.
49 pounds was a real bargain for such a high profile event and I am certainly attending INSITE 2008.

I just wanted to say thank you so very much to all at Channel Advisor for your time and effort at the Insite learning day yesterday. I must say thanks again for explaining to me (as if I wasn’t worried enough) how complicated this whole business really is….only joking… it was a really useful learning process for me (and I’m sure all that attended…great bunch by the way) that was an absolute pleasure to be included in and I am surprised at how much I was able to learn in such a short time.
The speakers were all very informative while showing there senses of humour…not something normally associated with this sort of day) as were the questions and answers in between sessions It was great to see all of you being so informative and helpful even during all the breaks and over what must have been a very long day for you all.
A special thanks to Julia Sarah and John (what a first day!) for al the kind support and help and assistance both yesterday and over the last few weeks of what has been a frustrating time for my new ventures early stages.
Hopefully we will be able to move forward now and I am very much looking forward to working with you all so again – thank you all,
Tony
